ROZEREM
Background

Rozerem (generic name - ramelteon) is a prescription sleep aid. It
is the first in a new class of sleep agents that's used for the treatment
of insomnia, particularly delayed sleep onset. Rozerem causes relaxation
to help you fall asleep, and stay asleep, and may also be used for
purposes other than those detailed here.
Rozerem was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
in July 2005 for use as detailed above, and became the first prescription
medication indicated for insomnia which is not designated as a controlled
substance by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Rozerem has quickly become popular mainly because it has not been
shown to cause dependence, and has shown no potential for abuse.
Additionally, the withdrawal and rebound insomnia that is typical
with some sleep medications is not present in Rozerem.
